SwampThings EmilyRItchie NGS POSTER A3 1

Swamp Things is an exhibition by Glasgow-based artist Emily Ritchie.

This recent work explores the murky swamp of the collective unconscious. Drawing from the visual language of horror cinema, old Hollywood, fashion and dance; Ritchie offers up a shadowy glimpse of desires and fears in the depths of the human psyche. Forms dissipate or assert dominance on the paper in these primarily figurative compositions.

Drawing is central to the work in this exhibition, which includes painting, printmaking, collage and digital imaging.

Emily Ritchie graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2005 with a BA(Hons) in Drawing and Painting. Recent exhibitions include ER-KK-II, at Taidekeskus KulttuuriKauppila, Ii, Finland in 2015 and Ii, at IR11, Edinburgh in 2016, both were solo exhibitions of work produced while on residency in Finland. A series of self published books made in 2017 can be found at this exhibition and at Good Press.
