February 9th - 10th, Friday and Saturday, 10am - 4pm

Launch Night: February 9th, 6pm onwards

Bringing together the works of Chloe Boughton and Mez Kerr Jones, Cyanopsia explores the historic and emotional ties that people have to cities via an immersive space centred around the colour blue. As city lovers and dwellers, their practices span through the conceptual and aesthetic fields of sculpture, film, set-design, drawing and painting.

In recent times there has been much re-development, re-generation and demolition of the built environment, and it is important to ask what is the ideological context for this re-building of our cities? In response to these questions Cyanopsia observes the people that occupy these spaces and their reactions to this forever changing backdrop.

Exploring play as a form of escapism and creating alternate realities, Cyanopsia proposes new idealised urban spaces by lightly commenting upon society and the places we inhabit, with dry humour and offering the viewer a space to contemplate this blue state of affairs.

Sometimes humour is the best possible response to destruction.
